Dennis Teodorescu is a Romanian contemporary visual artist working exclusively in oil painting. His practice explores the fragility and ephemeral nature of existence through figurative and expressionist imagery, focusing on themes such as alienation, decay, vulnerability, conflict, and psychological tension.
Working with both portraiture and larger figurative compositions, Teodorescu investigates the unstable relationship between the individual and the forces that shape human experience. His paintings often evoke states of emotional erosion, inner struggle, and existential uncertainty, combining expressive gestures, dense materiality, and dramatic atmospheres.
In recent years, his work has focused primarily on portraiture as a vehicle for exploring psychological intensity and the traces left by time, memory, and trauma. Through oil on canvas, he seeks to create images suspended between presence and disappearance, resistance and fragility.
He lives and works in Brăila, Romania.
Recent exhibitions include Art3f International Contemporary Art Fair, Paris (France), Art Thessaloniki International Contemporary Art Fair (Greece), the National Contemporary Art Salon in Bucharest, and the National Small Scale Art Salon in Brăila.
ARTIST STATEMENT
As a visual artist and licensed psychologist, my work investigates the fluid boundaries of memory, identity, and human vulnerability. I explore the psychological “imprints” left by time—faces that fade, emotions that persist, and the masks we adopt to navigate existence. My practice examines the psyche in limit situations and the ephemeral nature of matter, translating these inner mechanisms into oil on canvas through a figurative expressionist lens.
